There have been many moments where prayer has brought me peace. One time, years ago, my husband had kidney and prostate cancer. I touched his body while he slept and prayed over him. Those months were hard, but we continued in prayer. A more recent time was when several major financial problems hit our family in the same week. I prayed and had so much peace afterward that it was as if I had joy, and boy, did Satan try to take it away. Both prayers were answered. Ken had to have two surgeries, one on each kidney, and radiation for the prostate. He remains cancer-free! Hallelujah! The financial problems were not answered in the way I wanted, but our HVAC unit on our home and our patio door were replaced on the very same day they were broken (in the summer)! Praise the Lord! Prayer and faith in what we pray for really work!

One of the most impactful things that I've learned about prayer is how essential knowing the Word of God is. I prayed to God for 15 years without opening up His Word. This led to frustration, confusion, and desperation. I had zero evidence of Christ in my life. When I uncovered who God really is and what His Word says about me, I was able to change my position in prayer according to His will. This led to freedom from addiction and intimacy with Jesus.  Prayer is the gun; His Word is the ammo. You can't have one without the other!

One way prayer impacted my life was when I was looking for a church. I prayed and asked God to give me a home, and He did. He showed me My Father's House. I've been a member of MFH since 2012, where I can truly call it home. This is where I found my wife.
We now have two beautiful children, godparents, and best friends. We have pastors who love us and want the very best for us, as well as people with whom I can be myself a place where I can laugh and learn. God truly answers prayers, even a prayer within a prayer. I may have asked for a home, but what I really wanted was a family, and I got both.

Prayer has radically changed my life. It started when I was very ill, and my body was flooded with diseases. One day, a shift happened in my relationship with the Lord. I began to pray without ceasing and without any unbelief that, by His stripes, I was healed and that the disease and symptoms would leave my body. After praying fervently day and night, two weeks later, all disease left my body.
My prayer was answered!

This is a picture that was taken 11 months after my husband passed. In that hard time, I see how much the prayers of others help me to stay strong and not fall into depression. I learned that God is near to the brokenhearted, and mostly, I was reminded of His promises! So, my prayer was for Him to heal my heart and the hearts of my kids. He heard my prayer 100% and was with us each step of the way.
